Wow this easy fried rice was fun to make. I also made a video so you can see how easy it is to make. You will find it below. I’m so glad you want to learn how to make this dish.

I always just get started with the basics. I toast some sesame seeds while I chop up some celery, onions, and carrots. Once the sesame seeds are toasted, I remove them from the skillet to a bowl to add in right at the end.

Add in the oil of your choice. In the video, I used peanut oil because I had some extra from the stir fry the night before. Turns out while the bottles of peanut oil and olive oil look similar, they don’t pour out the same. The peanut oil has no flow control. Oh well, I just poured it out into a container because I knew I could use it for this dish the next day.

You can go ahead and add in the celery, onions and carrots and put the lid on for a few minutes. I turned down the heat at this point.

While that is cooking, I chopped some cabbage and a clove of garlic. Neither of these cook as long as the rest so just wait a minute on it.

I also chopped up the ham I was using. Whatever kind of protein you decided to use needs to be precooked. You can also make this a vegetarian dish with no meat and it would still be quite tasty.

I add in the cabbage and garlic and let it all cook together until I can smell the garlic. Now cover and cook until the cabbage starts to soften.

Once the cabbage starts to soften, you can add the ham and let it all warm back up.

While that is cooking, I rinsed about 1/2 cup of frozen corn and let it drain well.

Chop broccoli into small florets so they steam quickly.

Once the ingredients for the fried rice dish have warmed the ham or other protein, add in 1/4 water and the corn, broccoli and top it off with the rice and replace the lid.

After it has had a few minutes, open the lid and break up any big clumps with the back of your spoon while stirring it all up. It should all be hot and mixed well at this point.

Replace the lid until you can hear the water has cooked off. It will start to sizzle. Remove the lid and use a sharp spatula to pull the rice up from the bottom of the pan. You can watch the video of Mary cooking this fried rice dish to see what I mean. Once it all starts to brown well add in your soy sauce, I just give it a shake all the way around the pan. This will help to keep it from sticking to the skillet while the eggs are cooking.

Just pull the rice away from one side and crack 2 eggs and scramble them up, cooking them until they are done. Once they are done, smash them up small and stir to combine and spread the eggs throughout the fried rice dish.

Sprinkle in your toasted sesame seeds and stir. That’s it! You’ve just made your very own easy fried rice dish.
