Here is a video that shows one of the reasons people have an issue when using the Tattler Reusable Canning Lids and how to fix it.
I’ve used old Tattler’s and I’ve recently used the newest Tattler lids but I will say that both of them, old and new, have this same issue. If everyone only knew this little tip about their reusable canning lids they would likely never or rarely face a lid sealing failure. (I secretly hope for just one sometimes so I can eat my canned goods right away and not feel guilty)
Are you an avid canner and are looking for information about these reusable canning lids? They work great for both pressure canning and for water bath canning.

Using these canning lids from Tattler helps me to can more than I would if I was having to buy metal flats every time I canned 12 jars of goodness. I wouldn’t be canning pinto beans, pineapples or making hot sauce only once or twice a year.
I am especially glad that I have Tattler reusable canning lids and that I know how to use them. I’ve been using them since 2013 and I couldn’t be happier with their seal rate. I’ve seen on a few Facebook groups (here is my canning group) that finding canning lids is hard this year. (2020) I would think that there would be an influx of canners who are now trying the reusable plastic lids from Tattler or at least thinking about it!
Here are the ones I bought new:

I hope this video helps you if you have already bought the Tattler reusable canning lids and are having issues. If you are struggling with buying them, I hope you go ahead and start using them in your future canning products.
Thank you for this information. I purchased tattlers at a time when I didn`t have the funds to spare with the hope of continuing to can food for my family. I have had such a high fail rate that I started collecting them with the idea to sell them. With this video I will give it a try again.
Thank You
Sue, also Tattler has updated their instructions to use a 1 inch minimum head space when using the reusable canning lids.
